To ease parking woes, city tries chariots of fines

Outriders on three-wheeled electric chariots are descending on Lexington's downtown.

Starting next week, the outriders, full-time parking enforcement officers, will begin ticketing vehicles illegally parked at parking meters or in residential permit zones.

LEXPARK Office Opens

On July 1st, 2008 the LEXPARK Office officially opened to the public. Located at 114 North Upper Street in Downtown Lexington the LEXPARK office has been established as a part of the LEXPARK program which manages Lexington’s on-street and off-street parking programs. The program oversees 5 of the City owned garages and the over 1100 parking meters as well as residential permit parking zones in and around the Downtown and UK areas. LEXPARK Outriders Have Arrived!

Outrider Definition:*

1. A mounted attendant riding before or beside a carriage.
2. (At a racetrack) A mounted rider who accompanies or leads a racehorse to the post.
3. A person who goes in advance of an automobile or person to clear a passage.
4. A person who leads the way or is a member of a vanguard; forerunner.
5. A person who rides out or forth, esp. a scout, cowhand, ranch hand, or the like.

Their Mission: To encourage on-street parking for visitors of downtown by discouraging meter feeding. Mounted on electric chariots, our Outriders are directing, organizing, moving and creating your space.

LEXPARK Chooses Republic Parking System

Lexington & Fayette County Parking Authority and LFUCG select Republic Parking System to manage on-street and off-street parking program called LEXPARK.

Republic Parking System Releases Statement

Republic Parking System is honored to have been selected by the Lexington Parking Authority and Lexington Fayette Urban County Government to manage their on-street and off-street parking operations. Republic Parking will be commencing operations on July 1st, 2008. Republic Parking is a national firm based in Chattanooga, TN and has been doing business since 1966. In Lexington, Republic Parking also manages the parking operation at the Bluegrass International Airport and provides a shuttle service for the University of Kentucky.
